JULY is Another Record Month

July 2001 was another record month, with 5,807 sales passing through TREB's MLS system, TREB President David Pearce reported today. This was up a whopping 23% from the 4,729 sales recorded in July 2000, and up 6% from the previous record of 5,472 seen in July 1999. "We are on course for a record year," Mr. Pearce continued, "In the first seven months our MLS system recorded 40,823 sales. This is up 9% from the 37,303 recorded during the same time period in 1999, our previous best performance. The president went on to note that the average price was up 6% from the $236,526 recorded in July 2000.
Breaking down the total, 2,125 sales were reported in TREB's 28 West
districts and averaged $234,795; 904 sales were reported in the 14 Central
districts and averaged $336,397; 1,206 sales were reported in the 23 North
districts and averaged $274,255; and 1,572 sales were reported in TREB's
21 East districts and averaged $202,614.

Kingsway
Prices for detached homes in The Kingsway (from Prince Edward to Islington
and from Bloor to about Leland) averaged $405,596
for the three-month period between May 1st and July 31st, up marginally
from the $404,191 recorded during the same period in 2000. Prices ranged
from about $270,000 to $650,000, and average time-on-market was 32 days.
Nearly 20% of these houses sold for more than their asking price.
